U.S. expels hundreds of Tren de Aragua gang members to El Salvador

(MENAFN) White House stated on Sunday that the U.S. government evicted in the range of 300 individuals linked to the Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang to El Salvador over the weekend.

Describing TdA as a "direct threat" to national safety, the announcement indicted the gang of committing "some of the most heinous crimes" in the U.S. over the past few years.

It added: "Thanks to the efforts of the Department of State, these dangerous individuals have been removed and sent to El Salvador, where they will no longer be able to pose a threat to the American people."

On Saturday, the U.S. invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 against TdA, calling the group a "foreign terrorist organization" responsible for an "invasion."
