New Zealand, India agree to hold comprehensive FTA talks

(MENAFN) Both nations, New Zealand and India have decided to begin talks on a Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in April, following a discussion held between trade ministers from both nations on Sunday.

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stated: "This announcement is a major breakthrough in the economic relationship between India and New Zealand." His remark came after comprehensive talks in New Delhi between New Zealand Trade and Investment Minister Todd McClay and Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal.

Luxon emphasized that India offers substantial prospects for New Zealand and will be instrumental in increasing the country’s exports by value over the coming ten years.

McClay added that in addition to the FTA negotiations, New Zealand is committed to further investing in more substantial, lasting, and mutually beneficial connections with India in every dimension of the partnership.
