India, Bangladesh Conduct Joint Naval Exercise In Bay Of Bengal

NEW DELHI, March 14 (KUNA) -- Indian defense authorities said on Friday that the India-Bangladesh Naval Exercise "Bongosagar 2025" and coordinated patrol were conducted in Bay of Bengal this week.
A statement from the Indian Ministry of Defense said that the exercise saw participation of Indian Naval Ship INS Ranvir and Bangladesh Naval Ship BNS Abu Ubaidah.
"The exercise enhanced interoperability between the two navies, facilitating collaborative responses to shared maritime security challenges," the statement said.
Surface firing, tactical manoeuvres, underway replenishment, visit-board-search-seizure cross boarding and communication drills were part of the exercise, it added.
"The exercise provided the opportunity for both navies to develop closer links in tactical planning, coordination and information sharing for undertaking seamless maritime operations, the Indian Defence Ministry said.
"The exercise has strengthened coordination and confidence between the two navies thereby improving the ability to undertake coordinated operations and respond swiftly and effectively against emerging threats at sea,"it added.
The exercise shows shared commitment of both countries in countering global security challenges and support for Security And Growth for All in the Region initiative of India. (end)
