“Our state-of-the-art facilities and commitment to continuous improvement enable us to offer the latest advancements in kidney disease treatment. We are proud of the advancements we have made in dialysis, including home dialysis, and the overall management of chronic kidney disease.”

HMC's dedication to providing world-class kidney services is evident in its investment in infrastructure, technology, and staff training. This includes the recently launched Kidney Transplant Precision Medicine Programme marks a significant advancement in kidney transplant care, particularly for high-risk patients with hereditary kidney diseases.

Also, an eight-bed ambulatory dialysis unit was opened in 2024 at Muaither Health Centre as part of a joint initiative between HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to bring life-changing services closer to patients.

“World Kidney Day provides a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health,” Dr. Al Malki added.

“We are committed to educating the public about the risk factors for kidney disease and the importance of early detection. By working with our healthcare partners in Qatar to promote healthy lifestyles and regular check-ups, we can help prevent kidney disease and improve the lives of individuals affected by it.”

Kidney disease can affect people of any age, gender and race, and it is estimated that one in 10 people in Qatar have some kind of kidney impairment. World Kidney Day is a global campaign that spreads knowledge about preventive behaviours, risk factors, and how to live with kidney disease. While early detection allows for disease care and management, kidney disease related mortality continues to increase yearly.
