Egyptian Foreign Ministry Briefs Diplomats, Media On Arab-Backed Gaza Reconstruction Plan

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held extensive meetings with foreign ambassadors and international media representatives to explain the Arab plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.

The meetings were held to promote the Arab plan for“Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development of Gaza,” which was adopted at the extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025.

During the meetings, attended by ambassadors accredited to Cairo from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, as well as representatives of international organizations, a comprehensive overview of the plan, its elements, and its three phases was presented.

The plan includes removing 50 million tons of rubble, clearing unexploded ordnance, providing temporary housing units, constructing a total of 460,000 permanent housing units, and restoring basic services, networks, and facilities.

Officials emphasized that the plan was formulated to address the scale of the widespread destruction within the Gaza Strip and the urgent need to provide relief to the Palestinian people so they can return to normal life.

The meetings also addressed security in the Gaza Strip, including intensifying training programs for Palestinian police officers and building their capabilities, as well as enabling the Palestinian Authority to return to oversee the Gaza Strip.

In a related event on March 6, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry held a comprehensive briefing for foreign correspondents and international media outlets. A detailed presentation on the Arab plan and its various components was given, emphasizing the importance of Palestinians remaining on their land.

The briefing also covered the outcomes of the Arab Summit , including the final statement's reflection of Arab states' adoption of the Egyptian plan, the categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians, and the formation of a non-factional Palestinian committee of technocrats to manage Gaza.

The ministry also highlighted the welcome for Egypt's hosting of an international reconstruction conference in cooperation with the State of Palestine and the United Nations to mobilize the necessary funding for the implementation of the Arab plan.
