Vatican says Pope's health status remains ‘stable'

(MENAFN) Pope Francis' health status is still steady as he suffers with double pneumonia at a hospital in Rome, the Vatican has stated on Monday.

"As of Sunday evening, the Pope's clinical condition remained stable as he continued treatment for bilateral pneumonia at Rome's Gemelli Hospital," the Vatican added.

The 88-year-old pope "slept well throughout the night," based on their declaration, which reaffirmed that his health condition had not worsened for Sunday evening.

The Vatican made an announcement on Feb. 18 that the pontiff got diagnosed with double pneumonia and his health status was complex.

Since Saturday, the pontiff has been well, as the disease progression remains ongoing.
Francis was hospitalized in Gemelli Hospital for the first time in 2021 where he went through colon surgical operation.
