Do some brainstorming: Baida actor-writer Sudhanshu Rai tears into Mukesh Khanna over ‘Shaktimaan’
(MENAFN- Life and Style News) There seems to be no dearth of attacks and counter attacks featuring Mukesh Khanna, most popular for his portrayals of Bishma Pitamah in Mahabharat and once India’s favourite superhero Shaktimaan. Just days after IITian-comedian Vipul Goyal took a dig at him over comments on India’s Got Latent and Ranveer Allahbadia, now storyteller-actor Sudhanshu Rai has issued a subtle advisory for the veteran actor. In a recent interview to a news website/Times Now about his upcoming theatrical sci-fi supernatural thriller Baida, the storyteller-actor was asked about his take on who should play Shaktimaan, and as the creator of several fictional characters himself, did he find Shaktimaan in tune with modern times.
Responding to the question, Sudhanshu mentioned that Mukesh Khanna and the makers are wrongly concerned about who should or should not play the character on screen. Citing previously suggested names like Ranveer Singh and Tiger Shroff, the most heard storyteller in India for sci-fi, thriller and detective stories, pointed that the most important factor in the revival of Shaktimaan is ensuring that the character is evolved in sync with the modern times.
Sudhanshu added that often storytellers or writers get carried away with the characters they conceive or create, so much so that they even sideline the story, which should actually be at the core. Suggesting that the overall story of a film is more important than any character in particular, he said Shaktimaan will succeed among today’s audience only if the story of the film is kept the hero. The storyteller-actor asserted that the makers should “brainstorm” to add relevancy to the character as well as plot of Shaktimaan.
The mention of Shaktimaan came in the conversation on a question around Doctor Shekhawat, a popular character in contemporary Indian fiction created by Sudhanshu. The character of Dr Shekhawat is making its on-screen debut with Baida, the first-of-its-kind sci-fi thriller being released nationwide by Panorama Studios on March 21. The character is being played by Mahadev and Lust Stories 2-fame Tarun Khanna, and is the perfect blend of brain and brawn. He is as charismatic as brilliant, researches on souls and supernatural subjects, and posses a lot of physical & mental strength. Baida’s teaser has already created quite a storm on the Internet, and fans are equating it with the likes of Dark, Stranger Things, Tumbbad and Bramayugam.
