Dubai Prepares For Extensive Road Closures Amid Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge

Dubai is set to experience significant traffic disruptions this weekend as the 15th Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge takes place, necessitating extensive road closures across the emirate. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys carefully to avoid affected areas and minimise delays.

On Saturday, 22 February, from 6:15 am to 9:30 am, Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will be inaccessible in both directions near Expo City Dubai. This closure will impact communities such as Tilal Al Ghaf and Remraam. Traffic flow at the intersection of D54 and Hessa Street will also be restricted during this period.

The main event on Sunday, 23 February, will result in more extensive closures. From 6:10 am to 8:22 am, Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and the Al Qudra Road/Umm Suqeim Street roundabout will be closed, affecting areas including Al Reem, Damac Hills, Mira, Mira Oasis, Town Square, Cherrywoods, Serena, Arabian Ranches 2, The Sustainable City, Al Waha, and Layan.

Between 6:22 am and 8:22 am, the same roads will remain closed, impacting Global Village, The Villa, Cityland Mall, and Arabian Ranches. From 6:50 am to 8:40 am, Hessa Street will be off-limits, affecting Studio City and Motor City residents. Additionally, from 7:25 am to 9:50 am, Hessa Street closures will extend to areas such as Sports City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Al Barsha, Al Barsha South, and Jumeirah Village Circle.

Al Asayel Street will also see closures from 7:00 am to 9:30 am, with controlled exits and diversion routes in place. This will impact communities like Springs, Jumeirah Park, Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Lake Towers , and Meadows.

The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, approved by the UAE Cycling Federation and Dubai Sports Council, is a prominent event in the city's sporting calendar. Participants will navigate a 92 km route starting and ending at Expo City Dubai, passing landmarks such as Global Village, Dubai Autodrome, and Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
