Panama Carnival 2025: Traffic Authority Launches Campaign To Reduce Accidents

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) Panama City: With the arrival of the carnivals, the Land transportation and Transit Authority (ATTT) has launched an awareness campaign to reduce the number of traffic accidents, many of which result in tragedies that bring mourning to numerous families every year. Osiris Gratacós from the ATTT's Traffic Education Department stressed the importance of responsibility behind the wheel, especially at this time when traffic increases considerably. Referring to accident victims, Gratacós stressed the need to raise public awareness about the importance of responsible driving. “Driving is the biggest responsibility on the road. It is essential to do so calmly and apply emotional intelligence, since in this time many people want to get out of the road quickly and sometimes do not consider the consequences of their actions,” she said.

Recommendations for those who will Travel during the Carnival ATTT Recommends:

Plan your route in advance to avoid setbacks and be aware of possible detours.

If you are travelling with children, use appropriate child restraint systems and ensure they are properly buckled in the rear seats.

Stay hydrated and carry necessary medications in case of emergencies.

Respect speed limits and avoid distractions while driving.

Do not overload vehicles , since the number of passengers must correspond to the number of seat belts available.

“It is common during carnivals that people try to carry more passengers than allowed, even in trunks or exceeding the capacity of the vehicle. These are dangerous practices that we must eliminate, as they put the lives of all occupants at risk,” Gratacós warned.
