Qatar Calendar House Announces Astronomical Start Date Of Ramadan 2025

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Calendar House, in cooperation with Al-Ajari Scientific Center in Kuwait, announced that according to astronomical calculations conducted by specialists, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

A joint statement by the Qatar Calendar House and Al-Ajari Scientific Center explained that the crescent moon of this year will be sighted on Friday, February 28 (the day of sighting), at 3:45am Doha and Kuwait time.

The statement added, that the final decision on the start of the holy month of Ramadan remains with the Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

Eng. Faisal Al-Ansari, Executive Director of the Qatar Calendar House, said: It is possible to see the crescent moon of the month of Ramadan on the evening of the sighting day in the skies of Qatar or Kuwait because the crescent will set 32 ​​minutes after sunset on the day of sighting.
