US Senate Votes To Confirm Tulsi Gabbard As Director Of National Intelligence
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Senate has confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as director of US national intelligence.
The Senate voted 52 to 48, with just one Republican Mitch McConnell of Kentucky voting against her confirmation.
Gabbard, who switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party, has previously criticised the US intelligence community.
During the Senate Intelligence Committee's hearing, Gabbard was intensely questioned about her previous Political positions. She also refused to call Edward Snowden a traitor.
She will oversee 18 intelligence agencies with a budget of about $100 billion and advise US Donald Trump on intelligence matters.
