Moecc, Commercial Bank Sign Cooperation Initiative
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) In the presence of HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie and Commercial bank board member HE Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Attiyah, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) signed a cooperation initiative with the Commercial Bank.
The signatories were Dr Ibrahim Abdullatif al-Muslamani, Assistant Undersecretary for Conservation and Nature Reserves Affairs, and Fahad Badar, EGM, Chief Wholesale and International banking Officer, Commercial Bank, according to a statement from the MoECC on Monday.
The initiative calls for strengthening joint efforts in protecting the Qatari environment, especially the preservation of natural reserves, in addition to contributing to achieving sustainable environmental development in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030, a statement said.
The initiative includes the formation of a joint technical committee to supervise the implementation of the agreed programs and coordinate efforts between the two parties to ensure the achievement of the desired environmental goals.
Dr al-Muslamani, said:“The signing of the cooperation initiative between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Commercial Bank comes within the framework of strengthening the partnership between the government and private sectors to support efforts to protect Qatar's environment, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals.”
Dr al-Muslamani explained that the initiative reflects the ministry's commitment to strengthening joint efforts to protect kindergartens through the implementation of qualitative initiatives that include fencing kindergartens to preserve them, launching periodic campaigns to clean them, in addition to promoting biodiversity by planting local trees and plants, noting that these steps aim to achieve environmental balance and enhance environmental sustainability in Qatar.
Also, he pointed to the importance of promoting voluntary environmental practices and raising community awareness about the importance of kindergarten and its role in preserving the natural environment and combating desertification through the active participation of the private sector with environmental issues to achieve integration between economic and social development and environmental protection.
Dr al-Muslamani confirmed that the ministry, under this initiative, will provide substantive and technical support by providing consultations related to the protection of nurseries, and coordinating with the authorities concerned to ensure the efficient implementation of the initiative, and also follow up on the progress of work and prepare periodic reports to measure the environmental impact of the initiative.
