Japanese Officials Urged To Be Wary Of Using Deepseek At Work

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, Feb 6 (KUNA) -- The Japanese government urged Ministry and agency officials to exercise caution over the use of an artificial intelligence model developed by Chinese startup DeepSeek, citing security concerns, Kyodo News Agency reported on Thursday.
In an official notice, the government reiterated its directive against using generative AI for highly confidential information and emphasized the need to consider risks when using it for other purposes.
The notice was issued by a group of directors general from various ministries responsible for promoting a digital society. It noted that data collected by DeepSeek is stored in servers in China, disputes would be governed by Chinese law, and the use of Chatbot would need to be cleared by the National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity and the Digital Agency.
Last month, DeepSeek made global headlines with its AI model, which was reportedly developed at a fraction of the cost of its US rivals and claims to perform on par with OpenAI's ChatGPT, the report added. (end)
