Dhaka: Bangladesh has approved Pakistani private airline Fly Jinnah to operate direct flights on Karachi-Dhaka-Karachi route, informed Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh.

This marks the resumption of direct air connectivity between the two countries after nearly a decade.

The last time a Pakistani airline operated direct flights between the two nations was until February 2015 when Pakistan International airlines used to fly between Dhaka and Karachi.

Fly Jinnah will now be appointing a local General Sales Agent (GSA) in Bangladesh.

“Once they request, we will provide them with slots and frequencies,” added CAAB Chairman.

It may be mentioned here, the low-cost airline Fly Jinnah is a joint venture between Pakistan's Lakson Group and UAE-based Air Arabia, another budget carrier based in Sharjah.
