Salik, Dubai's toll operator, has implemented a new variable pricing system aimed at enhancing traffic management and offering a more efficient driving experience across the city. The updated pricing structure applies to all Salik gates throughout the year, except during the holy month of Ramadan, and introduces distinct toll rates based on the time of day. The move is expected to improve traffic flow during peak hours while making road usage more cost-effective during off-peak times.

The new pricing structure will be in effect for daily toll operations, adjusting according to periods of high and low traffic. Motorists will now pay a higher toll rate during peak travel hours, designed to encourage better traffic distribution and reduce congestion during the busiest times of the day. From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., when the roads are most crowded with commuters, the toll will be set at Dhs6 per crossing. This initiative is aligned with Dubai's ongoing efforts to optimize urban mobility by utilizing dynamic pricing models that reflect real-time traffic patterns.

In contrast, the off-peak periods, between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., will see a reduced toll of Dhs4 per crossing. This adjustment provides an incentive for drivers to plan their travel outside peak hours, further easing congestion during high-demand times. The toll rates during these hours are designed to balance the flow of traffic while offering a more affordable option for drivers during less crowded times of the day.

For late-night travelers, the toll system is more lenient. Between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day of the week, there will be no toll charge. This grace period is likely to appeal to night-time commuters, tourists, and logistics companies that require the roads for deliveries or other activities outside normal working hours. It also supports Dubai's objective of providing a seamless and equitable experience for drivers throughout the day, irrespective of the time.

An important feature of the revised pricing model is the adjustment for Sundays.
