U.S. Helicopter Black Box Found - NTSB


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- The black box of the U.S. helicopter which collided with a passenger plane in Washington D.C. on Wednesday has been found, said the U.S. National transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
"Investigators have recovered the black box from the army helicopter involved in the crash. He said it has been taken to the lab at NTSB headquarters," Todd Inman of the NTSB said at a briefing late Friday.
"The two black boxes from the passenger plane, the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, were recovered earlier, Inman said, adding that the NTSB has a "high level of confidence" that investigators will be able to retrieve information from them.
Earlier on Thursday, the black boxes of the U.S. commercial plane that collided with the military helicopter in Washington D.C. were found, according to U.S. media reports.
Some 64 passengers were aboard the American Airlines aircraft, while three soldiers were aboard the military helicopter.
Rescue teams have so far recovered 27 bodies from the plane and one from the helicopter. (end)
