Designstein Studios Wins Bronze At International Design Awards For Cone Light, Receives Honorable Mention For Marscharge Mega

Pi-Lit contracted us to help design and engineer an attachment for a standard Cal-Trans road cone, so that the entire safety cone illuminates from its base. Whether alone or placed in a line, they create a highly visible warning light for oncoming traffic that is noticeable long before headlights light up reflective tape on the cone surface, dramatically improving road safety for both drivers and transportation workers.


The MarsChargerTM Mega is an ultra-fast electric vehicle charger that can fully charge an EV in ~20 minutes, making it one of the fastest EV chargers on the market today. It has an integrated battery storage system completely independent of an electrical grid. The Mega can be connected to a building or electrical grid to provide backup power in an outage. Multiple chargers can be networked into a microgrid so that they can collectively share their power storage.

The Cone Light redefines road safety by transforming standard reflective road cones into fully illuminated warning lights. Collaborating with Pi-Lit, DesignStein Studios designed an attachment that fits seamlessly onto standard Cal-Trans cones, illuminating the entire cone from its base. Unlike reflective tape that requires headlights to be visible, the Cone Light provides a constant, highly noticeable light source that dramatically improves visibility for drivers and enhances safety for road workers. Whether used individually or in a line, the illuminated cones create a safer environment by alerting drivers much earlier than traditional methods.
