Jordan Due To Host Arab, International Meetings To Discuss Developments In Syria

Aqaba, Dec. 12 (Petra)-- Jordan will host, on Saturday in the
port city of Aqaba, international and Arab gatherings for discussion about the situation in Syria.
At Jordan's invitation, the foreign ministers of the Arab Ministerial Liaison Committee on Syria , formed by a decision of the Arab League and consisting of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Iraq, the Lebanese Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, will hold a meeting in Aqaba, also attended by the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the current president of the Arab Summit, and the State of Qatar.
The foreign ministers of the United States, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the United Nations envoy to Syria, and the Republic of Turkey will meet with the Arab foreign ministers taking part in the committee discussions.
In line with Security Council Resolution 2254, which satisfies the aspirations of the Syrian people, guarantees the reconstruction of the Syrian state institutions, and protects Syria's unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the rights of all its citizens, the meetings will address ways to support the comprehensive political process headed by the Syrians in order to achieve a transitional process.
