UK And Qatar Representatives Discuss Afghanistan's Situation

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Lolwah Al-Khater, Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation, met with Andrew McCoubrey, the UK's Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, on the sidelines of the Global Humanitarian Forum in London.

According to the statement released by the Qatari Ministry on Wednesday, October 16, the meeting focused on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, particularly the healthcare and education sectors.

The statement further mentioned that both parties exchanged views on joint cooperation in humanitarian and development projects in Afghanistan.

Qatar has played a significant role in Afghanistan's affairs, as it was where the Taliban leaders began negotiations with the previous Afghan government.

Education, especially girls' education, was a key topic of discussion during the meeting. Both sides stressed the importance of reopening schools and educational centers for girls. It has been over 1,100 days since the doors of educational institutions for girls have been closed in Afghanistan.

The ongoing restrictions on girls' education in Afghanistan continue to be a critical issue, with international actors like Qatar and the UK pushing for immediate action. The education crisis is part of the country's larger humanitarian challenge, as healthcare and other essential services remain under strain.

As Afghanistan grapples with mounting crises, the need for international cooperation on development and humanitarian aid is becoming increasingly urgent. Efforts like the ones discussed between Qatar and the UK are essential to addressing the dire needs of the Afghan population.
