Egypt's Higher Education Ministry Releases Blacklist Of Fake Institutions
The move comes ahead of the start of the 2024/25 academic year as the ministry intensifies its crackdown on unlicensed institutions issuing unaccredited certificates.
A list of the blacklisted institutions has been published on the ministry's website and social media channels, enabling students and parents to identify fraudulent operations across the country. The ministry has vowed to regularly update the blacklist based on ongoing investigations.
“This is part of our decisive confrontation with fake institutions operating without a license,” said Higher Education Minister Ayman Ashour.“We will not tolerate those who exploit students and their families.”
The ministry's judicial enforcement committee, in collaboration with the Administrative Control Authority and other government agencies, is actively pursuing fake institutions nationwide. The committee plans to expand its operations in response to reports from government agencies and media monitoring.
“Our goal is to ensure that parents and students are not exploited by these fraudulent institutions,” said Sami Deif, acting head of the ministry's education sector.
The ministry has also published a list of all accredited higher education institutions in Egypt on its website and social media channels. This list is updated regularly to reflect new institutions and program approvals.
“We are committed to raising awareness among students and parents about the institutions authorized to provide higher education services in Egypt,” said Adel Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry's media advisor and official spokesperson.
The ministry's media office is monitoring media and online platforms for promotional materials from fake institutions. Any suspicious activity is reported to the judicial enforcement committee for further investigation.
