Uzbekistan's Navoi Mining And Metallurgical Combine Implementing Projects To Boost Gold Production


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 19. Uzbekistan's Navoi mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC) is planning to implement 11 projects with a total value of $1 billion in 2024 under its ongoing investment program to boost Gold production, Trend reports.

According to the NMMC , a total of $363.5 million has already been allocated for these initiatives in the first half of 2024.

At the same time, the NMMC launched a new, seventh mill at Hydrometallurgical plant No. 3 (HMP-3). This initiative will help to increase the facility's gold-bearing ore processing capacity by 13 percent (from 8 million tons to 9 million tons per annum). The project, including the new mill, has a total cost of $281.1 million.

The Combine also plans to expand flotation, bio-oxidation, filtration, drying, and roasting workshops, which will further increase production volumes. These measures will increase annual ore processing capacity to 10 million tons by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's mining and quarrying enterprises manufactured products in the amount of 25.9 trillion soums ($2 billion) from January through May 2024. This indicator shows a 17.7 percent growth compared to the same period last year (22 trillion soums, or $1.7 billion in January-May 2023).

The volume of products manufactured in Uzbekistan's mining and quarrying industry reached 8.9 percent of the total industry volume.
