Erdogan pledges to not change stance on Israel until end of war in Palestine

(MENAFN) Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Tuesday that Ankara's position regarding Tel Aviv will remain unchanged as long as Israel continues its "massacre, occupation, and genocide policy" in Gaza and other Palestinian territories. Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan expressed solidarity with Palestine, emphasizing that the country stands firmly against oppression fueled by violence and occupation, despite any discomfort it may cause to those in power.

During the recent NATO summit in Washington, Erdogan addressed the ongoing violence against Palestinians in Gaza, highlighting the need to halt Israel's actions for the sake of regional stability and global peace. He noted Türkiye's efforts to pressure the Israeli government into declaring a ceasefire, which include suspending commercial transactions and intervening in a genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

Erdogan pointed out that Türkiye is leveraging its position within NATO to advocate for Palestinian rights and stated that no cooperation initiatives with Israel will be endorsed until lasting peace is achieved in Palestine. He praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, who continue to defend their land with dignity and courage, despite enduring significant losses and ongoing violence.

In his remarks, Erdogan commended the bravery of Palestinians, asserting that their struggle serves as an example of patriotism for Muslims and humanity alike, despite the heavy toll they have faced, including nearly 40,000 lives lost amidst relentless bombings.
