Ukraine's Border Guards Forming First Uncrewed Systems Unit

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Pomsta Assault Brigade is forming the first team of reconnaissance-strike unmanned aerial systems, having launched the selection process.

That's according to the press service of the Yevhen Pius 3rd Border Guard Detachment, Ukrinform reports.

"One of the most effective combat commanders of the State Border Guard Service, Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Oleksiuk, has been entrusted with forming a combat unmanned systems unit," reads the report posted on Facebook.

"His fighters and drones helped locate and engage multiple military targets, as well as stop large-scale assaults where the enemy employed infantry, tanks, and armored fighting vehicles," the report noted.

The Command is expected to use a wide range of various aircraft and copter-type drones: FPV, night bombers, and light reconnaissance UAVs.

Those who have successful practical experience of operating UAVs will form the new unit's backbone.

"We need UAV operators, engineers, sappers, and those who want to master the combat use of UAVs."
