Israeli soldier dies in Gaza, Palestinian casualties rise amid escalating military operations

(MENAFN) An Israeli soldier, aged 21 and serving in the Maglan commando unit from Kfar Saba, was reported killed during combat in central Gaza, as per The Times of Israel on Wednesday. This casualty adds to the toll of Israeli soldiers lost in ground operations against Hamas in Gaza and along the border with the Strip, totaling 327.

Earlier today, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that Israeli airstrikes and artillery strikes in the Nuseirat refugee camp and Gaza City resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of Palestinians, mostly children, during dawn raids. According to WAFA, a school sheltering displaced people in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, was targeted by Israeli forces, leading to at least 29 fatalities and more than 53 injuries.

Since October 7, WAFA has documented a total of 38,243 deaths and 88,033 injuries from Israeli military operations in Gaza. The agency notes that the casualty count remains provisional due to ongoing efforts to recover bodies trapped under rubble.
