Iran’s non-oil outputs reach USD13.5B in January-March 2024


(MENAFN) The Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mohammad Rezvanifar, announced that Iran's non-oil exports reached USD13.5 billion in the first three months of 1403 in the Iranian calendar (starting March 19, 2024). This figure represents a 7.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Rezvanifar, who also serves as the deputy minister of economy, noted that the total value of Iran's foreign trade, including oil, amounted to approximately USD40 billion from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024.

Highlighting the export of petrochemical products, Rezvanifar stated that Iran exported around 15.6 million tons of petrochemicals worth USD6.2 billion in the same period, showing a nine percent increase compared to the previous year.

During this period, Iran imported USD14.3 billion worth of non-oil products, marking a 1.3 percent increase from the previous year. The volume of non-oil imports was about 9.4 million tons, a 7.7 percent growth.

According to IRICA data, Iran's non-oil exports have surged by 40 percent over the past three years, from USD74 billion in 2020 to USD116 billion in 2023, a 57 percent increase. The weight of non-oil trade reached 167 million metric tons (mts) in 2023, up from 147 million mts in 2020, indicating a 20 percent increase. The value of non-oil exports grew significantly, reaching USD49 billion in 2023, a 40 percent increase compared to USD35 billion in 2020.

In terms of imports, Iran's total imports for the previous year amounted to USD66 billion, with significant expenditures including USD2 billion for gold bars and USD2.6 billion for trucks and truck units.
