Turkey records robust export growth amid international economic uncertainty
(MENAFN) In a recent announcement, the Turkish Trade Ministry has revealed impressive strides in Türkiye's export sector amidst a backdrop of global economic uncertainties. According to the latest data, Türkiye's exports surged by 3.6 percent to a total of USD63.6 billion in the first quarter of 2024. This notable increase contrasts with a marginal decline of 0.6 percent in global exports during the same period, based on statistics from the World Trade Organization.
Providing further context, the ministry highlighted that global export volumes experienced a significant annual decrease of 4.2 percent, amounting to USD23.8 trillion. Despite these challenging global conditions, Türkiye demonstrated resilience by achieving a modest 0.8 percent year-over-year growth in exports, reaching USD257.6 billion in total. This growth has concurrently elevated Türkiye's share of global exports by 5 basis points, now standing at 1.082 percent compared to the first quarter of 2023.
