BP Joins Consortium For Green Hydrogen Development In Egypt
Under the JDA, BP will serve as the lead developer and operator on behalf of the consortium. The partners are consolidating their respective gH2 projects in Egypt and also investigating the feasibility of a large-scale, multi-phase project focused on green hydrogen development and exports.
The newly formed consortium has also signed a Framework Agreement (FWA) with the Egyptian government. This agreement enables them to conduct studies and evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of the project.
The FWA was signed during the Egypt-EU Investment Conference, witnessed by key figures including Nader Zaki, BP's Regional President, Middle East and North Africa; Karim Hefzy, COO of Hassan Allam Utilities; Andreas Bieringer, Director of Green Hydrogen Business Development and Commercial at Masdar; and Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairperson of Infinity Power, alongside Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said.
