Judicial Commission To Probe May 9 Incidents: Provincial Law Minister Announces Investigation


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The provincial law Minister has announced the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9. A resolution concerning these incidents has been submitted to the cabinet for approval.

The minister stated that the investigation will cover election-related rigging in light of the investigation of incidents on May 9, and actions against those involved will be reviewed. A summary of the investigation has also been presented in the provincial assembly.

It is noteworthy that after Imran Khan's arrest at the Islamabad High Court premises on May 9 last year in the Al-Qadir Trust case, nationwide protests erupted led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

During these protests, significant damage was inflicted, including the burning of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) office in Model Town, Lahore, and various military, civil, and private installations. Public and private properties were seriously damaged, resulting in at least eight deaths and 290 injuries.

Following the unrest, law enforcement agencies arrested around 1,900 individuals involved in the violence, vandalism, and arson. Cases were also registered against Imran Khan, his party leaders, and workers.
