Ukrainian Speaker, Slovenian Ambassador Discuss Security Agreement

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk and Slovenian Ambassador to Ukraine Mateja Prevolsek have discussed the signing of a bilateral security agreement and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Stefanchuk announced this on facebook , Ukrinform reports.

"I hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine. I started our conversation with words of gratitude to Slovenia and all the people of Slovenia for their support for Ukraine," Stefanchuk said.

He added "that Ukraine appreciates the personal participation of Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar in the Global Peace Summit and joining the joint communique."

He also stressed that "Ukraine is waiting for the signing of a security agreement with Slovenia."

"The relevant agreements are a clear example that countries are ready to support Ukraine even before Ukraine joins NATO," Stefanchuk added.

According to him, both parties "discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation, which definitely remains at a high level."

Stefanchuk "separately thanked Slovenia for its defense support, which strengthens our ability to resist Russian military aggression" and for the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers and assistance in rehabilitating Ukrainian children.

The Slovenian president is expected to visit Kyiv on June 27 and sign a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine.
