A senior police official informed Kashmir Observer that the accused was taken into custody the same day the crime happened. He said an FIR was lodged after the victim recorded her statement before the officer investigating the instant case.
“The differences between the couple persisted till date despite written assurances by the accused that he would never subject his wife to physical or mental abuse at her matrimonial home,” a family member of the victim, told Kashmir Observer.
“She is traumatized after a fresh assault by her husband. We received a call from her daughter last evening that her mother is seriously injured and is lying in a pool of blood. She asked me to immediately take her to the hospital,” said the family.
After lodging an FIR at the concerned police station, the victim, they said, was taken to SKIMS Soura by a police team for treatment.
“He went beyond all bounds, leaving no option for us but to call the police. Due to severe neck injuries, our daughter is unable to talk. We urge the police to bring severe charges against the accused who turned our daughter's life into a nightmare,” the family added.
