EU Hails Azerbaijan For Creating Sustainable Solutions To Demining Issues

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. I express mygratitude to Azerbaijan for creating sustainable solutions todemining issues, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said,Trend reports.
He made the statement during a panel discussion on "CreatingNational Skills for Sustainable Environmental Remediation" at theconference "Mitigating Environmental Impact of Landmines: ResourceMobilization for Safe and Green Future".
Michalko emphasized the EU's focus on cooperation on climatechange.
“Speaking about mines, we have to understand the damage theycause to the environment. There have been very tragic mine-relatedevents in Azerbaijan, the consequences of which will linger for along time.
Yesterday, while in Karabakh, we familiarized ourselves with thereconstruction and construction works carried out. For these worksto be carried out, the demining process must be carried out first is successfully doing this.
The European Union has always supported Azerbaijan's efforts,”he added.
To note, the second day of the traditional internationalhumanitarian conference on demining is being held in Baku under thejoint organization of the Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan forMine Action (ANAMA) and the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP).
The theme of the III International Humanitarian DeminingConference, held on May 30-31, this year, is "MitigatingEnvironmental Impact of Landmines: Resource Mobilization for Safeand Green Future".
