Azerbaijan And Iran Come To Terms On Use Of Araz River Resources

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The 53rd JointCommission between Azerbaijan and Iran on the usage of Araz riverwater and energy resources met in Tabriz, the Azerbaijan StateWater Resources Agency told Trend .
Representatives from the agency, the Ministry of Ecology andNatural Resources, and relevant departments of the NakhchivanAutonomous Republic participated in the meeting, led by ZakirGuliyev, co-chairman of the Azerbaijani-Iranian joint commissionfrom the Azerbaijani side and representative of the State WaterResources Agency of Azerbaijan.
A number of matters were discussed during the meeting, asindicated by the State Agency. These included the signing of theprotocol, the determination of water distribution between the twocountries, the preparation of pertinent distribution tables for themutual utilization of water and energy resources on the Araz river,and the establishment of the operational mode of the Arazreservoir.
