Delegation Of French Polynesia Arrives In Azerbaijan (PHOTO)


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The visit of headsand secretaries of the Commission of the Parliament of FrenchPolynesia (Mā'OHI Nui - in the local language), as well as seniorstaff of the ruling Tavini party to Azerbaijan, started on May 29,Trend reports.

The purpose of the four-day visit is to consider the possibilityof establishing inter-parliamentary, economic, and humanitariancooperation between Azerbaijan and French Polynesia, as well ascooperation in science, education, sports, health, and otherspheres.

Particularly, it is planned to hold meetings in the AzerbaijaniParliament as well as in other public and private institutions inAzerbaijan.

Within the framework of the visit, a conference on“FrenchPolynesia's right to decolonization: Challenges and Prospects”.

The visit of the delegation of French Polynesia took place atthe invitation of the Baku Initiative Group, working in the fieldof combating colonialism and its new manifestations in the 21stcentury.

The visit was organized following the provisions of theCooperation Agreement signed between the Baku Initiative Group andthe Tavini Party within the framework of the internationalconference“Liberation from Colonialism: Consequences ofAssimilation and its Impact on the Realization of Human Rights”organized by the Baku Initiative Group on April 30 this year at theUN Office in Vienna.

To note, the Tavini party has been fighting for the independenceof French Polynesia for many years.
