Efforts invested inquality control of Azerbaijani products in the country will enhancetheir competitiveness, Chief of the State Service for Antimonopolyand Consumer market Control (AIBNDX) under the Ministry of Economyof Azerbaijan Mammad Abbasbeyli said at the National MetrologyForum in Baku, Trend reports.
He highlighted ongoing long-term reforms in Azerbaijan under the"Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities of Socio-EconomicDevelopment" program, aimed at enhancing the competitiveness ofAzerbaijani products.
"The development of quality infrastructure fundamentallyinfluences competition. In the market, the primary determinant ofcompetitiveness of goods and services isn't solely price but ratherthe balance between price and quality," Abbasbeyli stressed.
Discussing the role of AIBNDX, he underscored that the primaryobjective of the state service is to regulate relations betweenentrepreneurs and consumers. This includes fostering a robustcompetitive environment, ensuring the provision of quality productsand services to the populace, curbing monopolies, and bolsteringthe nation's economy through transparent and efficientoperations.
"Our service is actively involved in metrological control. Theprimary objective of state metrological control is to mitigatepotential threats to human life, health, and the economic interestsof the state stemming from inaccurate measurement results acrossvarious sectors of the economy," he added.
He noted that local entities such as the Azerbaijan Institute ofMetrology (AZMI), the State Committee on Standardization,Metrology, and Patents (AZSTAND), the Azerbaijan AccreditationCenter (AZAK), and the Consumer Goods Expertise Center (IMEM)operate under the state service to develop the infrastructure forensuring the quality of products and services.
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of utilizingcalibration standards for quantitative units and possessinghigh-precision measuring instruments, which are particularlycrucial for assessing both food and non-food products and testingconstruction materials manufactured domestically or imported intothe country.
"Offering metrology services as a vital component of ourcountry's quality infrastructure is crucial for fostering aconducive business environment," the state service chiefemphasized.
He highlighted collaborative efforts between the Institute ofMetrology of Azerbaijan and institutions in Türkiye, Germany, theCzech Republic, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and several othernations to leverage international expertise and adopt innovativepractices.
