German citizens urged to get ready for another war with Russia

(MENAFN) In a stark warning, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has urged Germany to be prepared for the possibility of a Russian attack, emphasizing the need for the country and its NATO allies to strengthen their military capabilities. Speaking in an interview with German public broadcaster ZDF on Monday, Pistorius acknowledged that Germany is not currently facing a direct threat of attack but emphasized the importance of proactive readiness.

The defense chief underscored the necessity for Germany to arm itself and collaborate with NATO allies to enhance military capabilities, citing the unpredictable nature of potential threats.

Pistorius highlighted the imperative of deterrence as a crucial strategy, stating that being prepared and signaling the ability to strike back are essential components in deterring potential aggressors.

To achieve a credible deterrent, Pistorius emphasized the importance of Germany being equipped to respond forcefully if forced into a conflict. He noted that building a credible deterrent is a proactive measure that signals strength to potential adversaries, emphasizing the need for Germany to be capable of waging a war if necessary.

Addressing specific concerns, Pistorius commented on the potential scenario of Russia attacking the Baltics and revealed Germany's establishment of the "Lithuania Brigade."

Comprising approximately 4,800 soldiers, this unit is set to be operational by 2027 and represents the first German force permanently stationed abroad since World War II. The creation of the brigade is a strategic move by Germany to address concerns in the region and contribute to NATO's collective defense capabilities.

As geopolitical tensions continue to evolve, Pistorius's call for preparedness and collaboration within NATO reflects the shifting dynamics in European security. The emphasis on deterrence and proactive military measures underscores the complex geopolitical landscape and the need for nations to adapt to emerging threats. Germany's commitment to strengthening its military capabilities and working in tandem with allies demonstrates a collective effort within NATO to maintain stability and respond effectively to potential challenges.
