Palestinian Pres. Starts Visit To Egypt
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Cairo on Sunday for talks with his Egyptian counterpart Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi on the possibility of a durable ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
The visit focuses on how to put an end to the atrocities being committed by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza and other parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, Palestine Ambassador to Egypt Diyab Allouh told reporters.
The summit talks with President Al-Sisi will also deal with the progress of the efforts of Egypt, and other regional and international players, to address the unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Gaza resulting from the three-month Israeli aggression, he noted.
Both leaders are also expected to discuss the efforts aiming to prevent forced displacement of Gazans and halt the crimes of the Israeli occupation forces and Jewish settlers in the holy city of Jerusalem and other parts of the West Bank.
They will reaffirm commitment to cooperation and coordination towards various issues at Arab, regional and international forums, Ambassador Allouh added. (end)
