Egypt-Gaza Rafah Crossing Opens For 20 Aid Trucks Amid Israeli Siege

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The French news agency has reported that the first shipment of humanitarian aid since the onset of the conflict entered the war-torn Gaza Strip on Saturday through the Rafah crossing.

Reporters from the French news agency have stated that after the passage of 20 humanitarian aid trucks, the Rafah crossing has again been closed from both sides.

Martin Griffiths, the head of humanitarian affairs at the United Nations, has emphasized that the passage of humanitarian aid trucks to the people of Gaza is vital, and the Rafah crossing should not be closed.

Rafah is the only entry point to Gaza not controlled by Israel. The United States, a significant ally of Israel, insisted that humanitarian aid reach Gaza.

Following a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7th, Israel imposed a blockade on Gaza, cutting off water, electricity, fuel, and other essential resources.

Israeli authorities have claimed that due to the para-military Hamas attack, 1,400 people were killed, most of them non-combatants. However, the Palestinian Ministry of Health later reported that 4,100 people in Gaza were killed due to Israeli airstrikes, a significant number of them being children and women.
