Mosque raids increase in Greek Cypriot Administration

(MENAFN) The amount of raids on mosques in the Greek Cypriot Administration has totally escalated, as stated by a representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TNRC).
Talking with a Turkish news agency, Ibrahim Benter, managing director of the Cyprus Foundations Administration (EVKAF), assessed latest assaults on mosques in the area.
"Attacks have increased in recent years and pose a danger,” Benter declared, labelling an occurrence on last Saturday as “very serious” because The mosque was damaged by the attacker's attempt to burn it down with a flammable substance.
Mentioning that a huge disaster was evaded because the mosque was clear at the time of the incident, he requested the administration to take actions regarding strikes on mosques as well as Turkish-Islamic artifacts in towns in the Greek Cypriot Administration.
Benter pointed out that there are numerous churches in the TRNC and that no attacks have been made on them elsewhere on the island, including by Turks, in the 452 years since the Ottoman takeover of Cyprus.
