Niger refuses to operate with Wagner Group


(MENAFN) Niger’s revolution chiefs have “no intention” of operating with Russian protection worker Wagner Group PMC, their highest civilian representative informed a news agency on Friday. Previous statements proposed that the nation`s recent army directors had reached out to Wagner among intimidations of an attack.

Ali Lamine Zeine, who was chosen premier by the revolution chiefs recently this month, stated that he had “seen no intention” on the part of the presiding generals to ask the aid of the Wagner Group.

But, Zeine also noted, “don’t push Nigeriens to go toward partners that you don’t want to see here.”

Niger’s pro-Western leader, Mohamed Bazoum, was overthrown also imprisoned previous month in a revolution ran by General Abdourahamane Tchiani.
