Turkish drone manufacturer advances due to development of defense sector

Date:

(MENAFN) Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar has advanced quickly as a result of the development of the Turkish defense sector, that advanced quickly using domestic resources, according to a news organization for the Chinese army.

The Istanbul-based Baykar, that this past week signed the biggest export agreement in Turkey's history with Saudi Arabia, was the subject of a full-page article in the PLA Daily.

In older times, Turkey carried strong defense capabilities, but following the Second World War, its reliance on foreign weapons and other equipment grew.

The new unmanned warfare paradigm that appeared in the 1990s also created new prospects in the military sector.

Despite having only been around for two decades, Baykar, among the defense businesses founded in Turkey throughout this time, made substantial advancements in the field of autonomous aircraft systems.

According to the PLA Daily, Turkey stated plans to create domestic UAV technology in the 2000s and urged private companies to work in the area.
