El Sisi, Greek Premier meet in Alamein for talks

(MENAFN) Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis was on Thursday in the shoreline town of Alamein for a gathering with Egypt’s Leader Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the government’s representative stated.

It is the initial formal trip by Mr Mitsotakis since his was reappointed to the prime minister ship two months ago.

Ties among Egypt and Greece have been pleasant for long time but have reinforced extensively since Mr El Sisi took office nine years ago.

From that time, the two nations have employed an amount of significant military, security as well as energy agreements that have ranged their benefits, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean district, which is wealthy in oil and gas.

Both nations inked a contract in 2022 as well, under which Egypt will provide power to the Greek grid that can then be moved to the widespread European power net. The USD4 billion deal was signed as Europe was in search of substitutions to Russian energy, which was suspended following the conflict started in Ukraine.
