The Role of Internal Audit In Microfinance in Uganda

Loans Support to Small and Medium-sized Firms in Uganda by Microfinancing Institutions and the Internal Audit Function

Ensuring good governance within Financial Institutions in Uganda is critical in maintaining a healthy microfinance industry that promotes economic development and well-being for all citizens.” - Dorothy Kiyaga NsekaZUG, SWITZERLAND, July 12, 2023/einpresswire.com / -- Monarch is happy to announce doctoral research addressing the critical role of internal audit within microfinancing institutions in Uganda to ensure high quality and good governance. The research is being carried-out by Ms. Dorothy Kiyaga Nseka, doctor of business administration student at monarch business school switzerland . Interested researchers and parties are encouraged to contact Ms. Nseka through Monarch.

About The Research:
Microfinance institutions provide financial assistance to the underprivileged worldwide to finance their small businesses. Microfinance institutions in Uganda are essential in providing loans to support small and medium-sized firms that employ a large portion of the country's workforce. Microfinance institutions lose clients annually due to poor governance oversight. Since they lend to most of Uganda's economically active population, governance oversight issues could put the financial industry and economy at risk. Research has yet to examine the importance of internal audit in the governance of regulated Tier 4 microfinance institutions in Uganda. In response, the contemplated research examines the above through a multi-disciplinary focus on internal audit, corporate governance, and microfinance theories. The research investigates the role of internal audit on the governance of regulated Tier 4 MFIs in Uganda and attempts to construct a new development framework that may inform recommendations to institutionalize internal audit among regulated Tier 4 MFIs.
