France And Niger Discuss Bilateral Cooperation, Security Challenges In Sahel


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Catherine Colonna, France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, met with Hassoumi Massaoudou, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Niger, on July 4, 2023, at the Quai d'Orsay.

The two ministers reviewed Franco-Nigerien bilateral cooperation as a whole, with a focus on France's support for Niger's development policy, particularly in the areas of education, water access, and agriculture. They also discussed security and stability challenges in the sahel , and welcomed the good partnership between the two countries in the fight against terrorism.

In addition, the two ministers discussed the major issues of international peace and security, including the war in Ukraine and the follow-up to the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact. They had previously met on July 14-15, 2022, during Colonna's joint visit to Niamey with Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu.
