Erdogan: peace process obstructed and eroded by war lobby

(MENAFN) Attempts to solve the continuing war among Moscow and Kiev have been “obstructed and eroded by the war lobby,” Turkey’s Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said. The leader made the comments on Monday as he spoke to journalists in Ankara.

Erdogan said that “the diplomatic efforts, which were initiated with the Istanbul process and proceeded with captive exchanges, have unfortunately been obstructed and eroded by the war lobby.”

The leader said that Turkey itself had been targeted by said “war lobby,” leaving out identifying any exact offenders. If Turkey’s peace attempts had accomplished early on in the conflict, most of the demolition could have been dodged, Erdogan clarified.

Turkey held peace debates amid Moscow and Kiev briefly after conflicts broke out in February last year. The discussions were concluded in a preliminary peace agreement, which was identified in Istanbul.
