Qatar Attends Iraq's“Development Road Project” Technical Meeting

Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has taken part in the technical committees meeting of the Iraqi Development Road Project held in Baghdad and attended by representatives of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Iraq's neighbouring countries, China, the WB, and the project's consulting firm.
Chaired by Iraqi Minister of transport H E Razzaq Muhaibis Al Saadawi, the meeting discussed the particulars of the strategic project, which is supposed to begin in Iraq and to link the East and the West through a road and railroad transportation network.
The Qatari delegation included Ministry of Transport's Acting Assistant Undersecretary, Land Transport Affairs, Eng. Hamad Essa Abdulla, and several officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Free Zones Authority, QTerminals, and Qatari Diar.
This meeting was preceded by a last May conference in Baghdad that was attended by transportation ministers of Iraq's neighboring countries and the region where the project's economic feasibility was discussed.
On the sidelines of the technical meeting, the Qatari delegation met with an Iraqi delegation represented by some of the Iraqi prime minister's transportation affairs advisors, and officials representing Iraqi railroad sector, ports, and free zones.
They discussed Qatari-Iraqi cooperation and coordination in the areas of transportation, ports, logistics services, Development Road Project and the Grand Port of Al Faw.
