Ukraine's Air Force To Alert Citizens Of Missile, Drone Threat Via Telegram

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Command has warned Ukrainians against using unverified Telegram channels for updates about the possible missile and drone attacks by Russia's invasion forces, and instead urged citizens to get verified information from the official Telegram channel run by the Air Force.

That's according to Colonel Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Air Force Command, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"Indeed, there are many monitoring public channels today that provide information (on air raid alerts). Citizens trust some of them and constantly want to see fresh updates about what type of attack is to be expected and where it's coming from. The Air Force will also be providing such information as many citizens are concerned – we saw many requests from the media," Ihnat said.

According to the official, the Air Force will notify citizens on Telegram about attacks in the night hours by Shahed-136 kamikaze drones, the threat of missile strikes involving Tu-22, Tu-95, and Tu-160 bombers, as well as strikes by Kalibr missiles coming from submarines and warships in the Black Sea.

As reported earlier, the Air Force warned citizens about the launch of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea. Air defenses have been activated in and around Kyiv, engaging incoming targets.
