(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, June 12 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley will travel this week to Wiesbaden, Germany and Brussels, Belgium, the Pentagon announced Monday.
The Pentagon said in a statement that Austin and Milley will travel Wiesbaden, on June 14 to meet with troops supporting the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine and then to Brussels on June 15 to host an in-person meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG).
The statement added that Austin and Milley will join ministers of defense and senior military officials from nearly 50 nations "to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the continued close coordination by the international community to provide the Ukrainian people with the means necessary to defend their sovereign territory".
This will be the 13th meeting of the UDCG since Austin formed the international group in April 2022, the statement noted.
The statement indicated that while in Brussels, Austin will also participate the NATO Defense Ministerial June 16 at NATO Headquarters. (end)
