Iran-US exchange decreases in January-April period of 2023


(MENAFN) According to the latest statistics released by the American Statistical Association (ASA), the value of trade between Iran and the United States amounted to USD17.8 million in the first four months of 2023, reflecting a two percent decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. In 2022, the trade volume between the two countries had reached over USD18.2 billion during the corresponding period.

The ASA data further reveals that the United States exported goods worth USD17.5 million to Iran between January and April 2023, indicating a significant 29 percent year-on-year increase. On the other hand, Iran's exports to the United States amounted to USD300,000 during the same period.

It is worth noting that the trade between Iran and the United States constitutes a relatively small portion of their overall international trade. In terms of export destinations for the United States, Iran ranked 172nd during the first four months of 2023. Similarly, Iran stood at the 212th position as a source of imported goods for the United States.
