Iran's Kamal Kharrazi at Arab-Iran Dialogue in Doha: Reconciliation, Ambassador Appointments

(MENAFN) Kamal Kharrazi, the head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations (SCFR), has embarked on a journey from Tehran to Doha to participate in a significant conference centered on Iranian-Arab relations. Leading a delegation comprising former Iranian officials with ties to Iran's Arab policies, Kharrazi is expected to deliver the opening remarks at the Arab-Iran Dialogue, a collaborative event organized by the SCFR and the Al Jazeera Center for Studies.

The primary focus of the conference will revolve around economic security and exploring potential solutions to the ongoing crises plaguing the region. This gathering holds particular significance as Iran and various Arab countries are currently making strides towards reconciliation following a decade of strained relations.

Notably, Iran and Saudi Arabia have recently taken steps towards restoring diplomatic relations, including the appointment of ambassadors. Alireza Enayati, who heads the Persian Gulf Bureau at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, has been reportedly selected as Iran's new ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Enayati played a crucial role in the Chinese-brokered deal that paved the way for the restoration of diplomatic ties between the two nations. This agreement, reached on March 10, stipulated the reopening of embassies in both Tehran and Riyadh within a two-month timeframe.

It is worth mentioning that Enayati has previously served as Iran's ambassador to Kuwait, showcasing his experience and familiarity with regional dynamics. On the Saudi side, the appointment of their ambassador to Iran has already been announced, further indicating a positive trajectory in the bilateral relationship. Previous reports in Iranian media had speculated that both Enayati and Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, were among the top candidates for this high-profile diplomatic position.
