QF's Academic Bridge Programme Marks Graduation

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Foundation's (QF) Academic Bridge Programme (ABP), under the umbrella of QF's Pre-University Education (PUE), recently celebrated its graduation ceremony at the PUE Theatre Hall in Education City.
This year, 116 Education City (EC) ABP students graduated, bringing the total number of alumni to 3,689. Around 72% of the students this year are Qatari.
So far, members of the Class of 2023 have received a total of 90+ offers of admission to one or more of the EC universities, other universities in Qatar, the United Kingdom, the US, Canada, Bahrain, Germany and Ireland, a press statement noted.
Dr Bryan Lewallen, director of the ABP, welcomed the attendees and shared his thoughts with the Class of 2023.“To our graduates, I want to thank you for your efforts and for trying to do your best, in order to realise your dreams. Some people look at the ABP and think that we are only about teaching English, mathematics, computer skills and science, but the ABP has taught you more than that.” He added:“The ABP taught you to believe in yourself, to do your very best every day, to be on time, to do the work, in order to succeed. In life, nothing worthwhile is ever easy. You know that now, and what you have accomplished should make you and your families proud.” The ABP Class of 2023 valedictorian, Reel Elmasri Yousif, said: "The Academic Bridge Programme has united us all in that we were all in the journey of seeking our dreams, and thankfully, many have already achieved their goals. Some might have found their passion. Others may have secured their seat in their dream university. And many may have created a valuable friendship.” Reel will continue to the next chapter of her academic journey at Qatar Foundation, as she got accepted into Weil Cornell Medicine-Qatar.
ABP distinguished alumna and keynote speaker Dr Mashael al-Shafai, Class of 2005, said:“The Academic Bridge Programme was one of the most important steps in my academic life. Through the ABP, I was able to gain a lot of knowledge, analytical skills, and self-confidence. The ABP enabled me to fulfill the admission requirement necessary to join international universities as well as to enrol in my dream specialisation, 'The Study of Genetics'. Indeed, I have received a bachelor's degree with honours.”
